Dancer

Julia started her professional ballet education in 2006 at the Dutch National Ballet Academy, Amsterdam. During her time there, she danced in productions of Dutch National Ballet, a.o. Nutcracker, Romeo and Juliet and Hans van Manen Festival. She also performed choreographies of George Balanchine, Marius Petipa, Ohad Naharin and Mikhail Fokine. Participating in various summer courses, she learned and performed different pieces of repertoire of Hans van Manen and Jiří Kylián.

At the age of nineteen, Julia joined De Dutch Junior Dance Division, a talent-development junior company in The Hague. During her three years there, she performed in the company's big Christmas performances (Nutcracker, Dancing in a Winter Wonderland, Alice in Winter Wonderland) and in annual national tours. The work varied from (neo)classical to contemporary work with choreographies from Ed Wubbe, Ton Simons, Thom Stuart and Rinus Sprong.

Julia performed on gala's such as Free to Move gala and Balletgala Stichting Dansersfonds '79, but also during commercial performances like Armin van Buuren's The Best of Armin Only shows, (children's) performances with Harlekijn Danstheater, openings of the World Championship Beach Volleyball and Hockey and on television (Everybody Dance Now, Holland's Got Talent). She also danced on cultural festivals all around the country, in educational projects on primary and high schools and in various other performances on the beach, in parks, factories, churches and many more locations. Besides dancing repertoire of different choreographers, she also created pieces for both herself and fellow dancers.

Currently, Julia dances as a freelance dancer, working in collaboration with Pop-up Dance to make so called living room ballets and performances specially created for specific occasions and locations.
